Anna Lee Dozier from Washington, D.C., purchased an old vase for $3.99 at a local thrift store, unaware that it was an artifact almost 2,000 years old. During a business trip to Mexico, she visited an anthropological museum and noticed similar objects, which led her to consult with experts about the vase.
It was identified as a ceremonial Mayan urn dating from 200-800 AD. Dozier has since donated the urn to the Mexican Embassy, and it will be transferred to the Mexican Cultural Institute to be displayed alongside other pre-Columbian artifacts.
